Rise and shine, JP. Here's your morning memo for Thursday, April 24.

Hot Jazz, Cool Neighborhood: There's a lot happening all over JP. And Egleston Square is no exception. Mark your calendars for May 15 to attend "Hot Jazz, Cool Neighborhood" — a benefit for Egleston Square Main Street. The organization provides business and community development guidance for Egleston.

The musical keynote will be delivered by the Zwelakhe-Duma Bell Le Pere Trio. Above I've embedded a bit of Bell Le Pere's music. Good stuff. "Hot Jazz, Cool Neighborhood" is Thursday, May 15, 6-9 p.m. at Coco's Lounge. Admission is $15 sliding scale, but why not donate more?

Café Bartlett Square Cook-Out: Speaking of fun times, you don't have to wait for May 15. On Saturday, Café Bartlett Square is throwing a public cook-out. They're promising artisan burgers, veggie kabobs and cold beer. Kitty-cornered from Green Street Station, 154 Green St.

Franklin Park Tree Planting and Volunteer Day: Work up an appetite for the aforementioned 'cue and brew by giving some love to Franklin Park. Saturday morning is Tree Planting and Volunteer Day. Click here for details. Work runs from 10 a.m. to noon.

Have a great day!
