A Marlborough man menaced a 39 bus driver and cops with a hockey stick at Forest Hills on Friday evening, according to T police.

About 7:45 p.m. on Friday Transit Police received a call about a man causing a disturbance in the 39 Bus berth, according to an account on the Transit Police blog. The man was cursing the driver and not letting passengers board the bus. Transit Police say they tried to reason with the man but he hit one of them with his fist.

Police report it took several officers to subdue the man, who was later identified as John Capehart, 50, of Marlborough. While being booked at Transit Police headquarters, police say the man hit an officer again and spit in an officer's face.

He was charged with assault and disorderly conduct and is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday, MBTA police report.

It's worth noting that the T is testing protective barriers for bus drivers.
