Boston Police confirm a person was injured in the leg outside Stony Brook T on Monday night. An MBTA spokesman said it was a gunshot wound.

David Estrada, spokesman for the police department, said shortly after the incident that a male suffered non life-threatening injuries at 96 Boylston St. The scene was active as of 8:20 p.m. Monday.

Some Twitter sources were less reserved, saying eight shots may have been fired in the incident.

Around 9 p.m., MBTA spokesperson Joe Pesaturo emailed that incident was a shooting, that the person was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Transit Police posted on their blog that the victim is a 23-year-old man.

They are seeking the public's help in the investigation. Witnesses or anyone with information on the incident are asked to call the Transit Police Criminal Investigation Unit at 617-222-1050. You can text anonymous tips to 873873.
