Good morning, neighbors! Here's your Morning Memo for Monday, Aug. 11.
Peace Rally: It's only Monday, but I wanted to put it on your radar that on Saturday there will be a Peace & Unity Rally in Hyde and Jackson squares. As you know, there have been three shootings in the area of Stony Brook T this summer. This event, sponsored by JP Neighborhood Development Corp., will include family-friendly activities like face painting, music and open mic. There will be speakers from various neighborhood groups. Runs 1-4 p.m. Saturday between the Hyde Square rotary and Jackson Square Station. Organizers ask that everyone wear white as a symbol of unity. Scroll down for flyers with more information.
Story Club Takes on "Schools": On Monday night, Story Club Boston invites storytellers (including you!) to tell the crowd your story on the topic of "School." My story would probably be about that time I turned a book report on "Darkness at Noon" as an excuse to convince my English class there'd been a coup. Gets started at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Bella Luna Restaurant and Milky Way Lounge, 284 Amory St.
Jazz at Tres Gatos: After the story club, head over to Tres Gatos, 470 Centre St., for some tapas and live jazz. The music, from Daniel Winshall Jazz Trio, starts at 9 p.m. Monday. No cover.
