"Dog Day" at Egleston Farmers Market: Anyone on Facebook couldn't miss the fact that Tuesday was National Dog Day. On Saturday, Egleston Farmers Market is having a "Dog Day" of its own, complete with training sessions, an adoptable dog from the MSCPA and a dog washing station. Food vendors are joining in too, with one offering a dried liver stick. 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Hall, 45 Brookside Ave.
U13 Fall Instructional Baseball: The Regan League isn't just for spring and summer. In September through the beginning of October, JP's Little League organization is offering training for young baseball players who want to join the Pony League come spring. There's a sign-up on Thursday, 5-7 p.m. at Curtis Hall Community Center, 20 South St. For more information, visit the Regan League web site or email Philip Sugerman.
Rabid Skunk Found in West Roxbury: Universal Hub tells us the rabid animal was on Stimson Street in Westie, nowhere near JP. But rabies is rare enough and serious enough that I thought I should flag it here. Here's a fact sheet from the city's Public Health Commission on what to do if you encounter or believe your pets have encountered a rabid animal.
Boomerangs Extends Hours for Move-in Season: Maybe it doesn't reach Allston Christmas levels around here, but there's certainly plenty of folks moving in and out of apartments for Sept. 1. Boomerangs announced it will stay open through 9 p.m. every day from Thursday to next Thursday if you've got stuff to drop off (or need to furnish your new pad.)
