Hi neighbors. Here's your Morning Memo for all things JP for Tuesday, Aug. 26.

Hairblast — Haircuts with a Social Mission: Ultra Beauty Salon will host "Hairblast" on Wednesday, a fundraiser for the youth development organization Hyde Square Task Force. Haircuts or blowouts are $50. Wednesday, 3-7 p.m. at Ultra Beauty Salon, 401 Centre St. Walk-ins are accepted if there's room, but this will be a popular event, so I highly recommend calling ahead for an appointment: 617-983-8407.

Menino Memoir Out Soon: If Hub politics is your thing, it's time to pre-order your copy of former Mayor Tom Menino's memoir, "Mayor for a New America." (Hat tip to one of the essential reporters to follow if you care about Boston and Massachusetts politics, Gintautas Dumcius, for highlighting the Oct. 14 publication.)

The Eliot School and JP Branch Library Team Up for Woodworking Class: Two JP gems are collaborating on a woodworking class for kids 6-10 this fall. Check the JP Branch Library's Facebook page for more details.

Speaking of The Eliot School...: The Eliot School's whole array of fall and winter classes are open for registration, by the way. You may have recently received the school's catalog in the mail. If not, head to their web site to see the offerings. Me, I'm thinking one of the photography classes to improve the shots you see here on Jamaica Plain News.

Have a great rest of the day, JP!
