Good morning, JP and welcome to your first workday of September. Here's your Morning Memo for all things Jamaica Plain for Tuesday, Sept. 2.

Centre/South Main Streets First Thursday Artwalk Preview: Looking forward to Thursday, it's another First Thursday Artwalk along the Centre/South corridor. Dozens of artists and musicians will be hosted at the neighborhood's businesses from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. that day. There's always a lot to love about the Artwalk, but one item to be aware of for this edition is a special "pop-up" Canadian bacon sandwich being crafted by Brad Brown at Blue Frog Bakery. I ran into Brad recently and the Toronto native said he brought back several bags of his favorite Candian potato chips to serve. Blue Frog Bakery, 3 Green St., 6-9 p.m., but only while supplies last.

Thursday is First Day of School: Boston Public School students grades 1-12 return on Thursday. Kindergarteners come back next Monday. And, of course, public charter schools started last week amid bus chaos.

Zoning Appeal Cases: For Monday's Board of Zoning Appeals meeting at City Hall, at least three JP addresses are under scrutiny. Here are thumbnails of each in case you'd like to shoot down to Room 801 at City Hall and weigh in:

  • 10:30 a.m. — 11 Pershing Road: New dormer on third floor.
  • 10:30 a.m. — FoMu Ice Cream, 617 Centre St.: Take-out license
  • 1 p.m. — 86 Wyman St.: Basement and first-level renovations

Have a great day, neighbors.
