Shamus Moynihan was walking to meet a friend Wednesday afternoon when Centre Street exploded in a flash of color.

"I saw a giant cloud of pink smoke," said the nine-year neighborhood resident. It was from the dye pack given the person who'd just robbed Mt. Washington Bank at 515 Centre St. Moynihan saw the robber, but only as a puffy jacket in the mist.

The man fled to either Robinwood Road or Goldsmith Place, he said. It was hard to tell.

There was an incident at the 515 Centre St. bank on Tuesday in which a fight between two people forced the branch to close, said Melvin Tutiven, branch manager. The incident Tuesday was not a bank robbery.

The branch has been a frequent target for criminals. Wednesday's robbery was the fourth since 2013. Before this week's robbery, it was last targeted in October.

Moynihan, who is president of the Jamaica Plain Music Festival, said he called 911 at 4:24 p.m., right after seeing the incident.
