For snow-weary residents, it can be a beautiful sight: Piles and piles of the stuff being melted away. That’s what’s happening right in Forest Hills as crews work the snow melter at the Arborway Yard. Here are a few photos. Enjoy.

Brilliant short term solution but underscores our failure at long term problems. We are using fossil fuels to melt snow that was more extreme than usual because the CO2 emitted from burning those same fossil fuels retains heat in the atmosphere allowing for more water vapor so when the Arctic cold slides down we get more precipitation. It was 20 degrees warmer in Fairbanks AK last week and 30 in Missoula. Lets push Rep Lynch to support efforts to reduce climate change starting with a fee on carbon. Right now all he seems interested in is rehashing 911.
