Jamaica Plain News Gains Google Juice

In the not-quite-a-year since we launched Jamaica Plain News as an independent, online news source for the neighborhood, we’ve made great strides. We passed another milestone recently that makes it easier for readers to find us.

On Friday Jamaica Plain News was accepted into Google News. This means it will be easier to find our stories through Internet searches. For our local advertisers, it means more people seeing their messages.

For instance, as of Monday morning if you search “Jamaica Plain,” we’re in the top three results. If you further click on “News,” we published seven of the first 10 items you’ll see.

This success is a result of the daily work we do to keep JP informed, and of your readership. Thanks for being a part of Jamaica Plain News as we grow and continue to serve the neighborhood.

This is wonderful! Don’t know what we would do without the Jamaica Plain News!

  • I’d say congrats except I have to wonder if this has something to do with the fact that I’m no longer seeing the next/previous post buttons on articles. It’s being a real pain to have to keep going back to the home page to find the next article I haven’t read yet.

Thanks, J.M. Actually, that was a setting I changed this weekend. I’ll change it back since if you found it useful, other readers probably did too.

      • Thanks, Chris. I may be weird in how I read the content on the site though. When I’m on the laptop I open the main page in one tab and then use a second to go one story at a time. I sometimes refer back to the home page to make sure I’m not missing something, and there have been a few times when I realized the navigation buttons missed a story.

  • That’s really great news everyone!
