Boston Police are reporting a sexual assault occurred in Jamaica Plain early Thursday morning in which the assailant displayed a firearm, on the heels of a reported indecent assault near Jamaica Pond last week.

At 1:41 a.m. Thursday morning, Sept. 29, officers from District E-13 (Jamaica Plain) responded to a call for a report of a sexual assault in the area of Gay Head and Minden streets. Upon arrival, officers spoke to the victim, who stated that while she was on Gay Head Street, the suspect approached her, displayed a firearm, demanded her cell phone and then instructed the victim to walk with him into a backyard in the area of 24 Gay Head St., where the victim says the suspect sexually assaulted her.

The victim describes the suspect as either a light-skinned black or Hispanic male with light-colored eyes, with a mask pulled up over his nose, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a white logo on the front and black jeans. According to the victim, the suspect was last seen running down Arklow Street towards Walden Street.

Last Thursday night, a victim reported an indecent assault near Jamaica Pond at about 10 p.m. In that case, the victim described the suspect as a black male, approximately 6 feet tall and 250 to 300 pounds, with a beard. He was believed to be wearing a baseball hat, a grey T-shirt and long pants. It is unclear whether the two assaults might be connected.
