In an effort to promote and celebrate literacy, state Rep. Liz Malia (D-11th Suffolk) participated in the nationwide Read Across America Day on March 3rd. Malia stopped by the Roxbury YMCA, read to children, and spoke about the importance of reading.

“Literacy is the foundation of learning. Learning to read and an acquired fondness of reading expands the mind and leads to incredible opportunities,” said Malia.
Read Across America is the nation’s largest annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on March 2, the birthday of beloved children's author Dr. Seuss.
