For the third year in a row, Ghost Light Players of MetroWest will be holding their annual fundraising event in the form of a live radio play. This year’s production is an adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic, ‘A Christmas Carol,’ and Jamaica Plain resident Jeff Kimball will be the music director and accompanist.

In what is now a beloved tradition at Ghost Light Players, the company will return to the 1940s, and transform their stage into the studios of the fictitious WBFR Radio. Five radio personalities will bring the story to life through characters voices, song and holiday humor. The ensemble of actors includes Kat Alix-Gaudreau of Stratford-on-Avon, England, and Walpole, MA; Roger Alix-Gaudreau of Walpole, MA; Jessica DePalo of Westborough, MA; Jacob C. McDonald of Clinton, MA; and Joshua Wright of Northborough, MA.

The stage manager, and the woman behind the radio show’s sound effects, is Bryson Michael of Sutton, MA.

Ghost Light Players is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, that has been operating out of Marlborough, MA since 2011. The company has pursued its mission – to bring joy, education, and inspiration through theatre – by staging plays from different eras, genres, and worldviews.

In their most recent endeavor, Ghost Light Players went international. Their production of Shakespeare’s ‘Hamlet’ ran for five sold-out performances at the Edinburgh International Festival Fringe, in Edinburgh, Scotland.

The group is proud of its efforts to give back to the community. In conjunction with their annual, free Shakespeare production, Ghost Light Players has collected thousands of pounds of food for the Marlborough Community Cupboard food pantry.

Proceeds from their fundraiser will help Ghost Light Players plan and execute a successful 2018 season, starting with their March production of ‘Summer and Smoke.’ Tickets are available at ghostlightplayers.com/boxoffice, or by phone at 508-263-0052. There are discounts available for children, seniors, and large groups.

‘A Christmas Carol: A Live Radio Play,’ by Joe Landry with music by Kevin Connors, will be performed for one night only, Saturday, December 16 at 7 pm. It is being held at Ghost Light Players’ usual venue at 37 High Street, Marlborough, in the Parish Hall of the First Church of Marlborough.
