Preserving Jamaica Plain’s History

May 17, 2015 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Free

Join two JP organizations and celebrate National Preservation Month. This tour of Jamaica Plain will focus on ongoing efforts to preserve the neighborhood’s historical fabric. We will start with a 90-minute tour, led by the Jamaica Plain Historical Society, exploring historic buildings that have been preserved and adapted for new uses. We will stroll through one of the best collections of Victorian homes in Boston (the Sumner Hill National Historic District) and end at the 1760 Loring-Greenough House. There, over light refreshments, a short talk will explain how this Georgian gem was saved by the dedicated Jamaica Plain Tuesday Club who continue to steward the preservation of the house for residents of JP today.
