Screening: It’s a Wonderful Life
December 6, 2014 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm
Imagine viewing the beloved holiday classic “It’s a Wonderful Life” in the warm and welcoming embrace of a stately Jamaica Plain house. A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to do just this is coming up in early December. The screening, which is part of the Film NIGHT @ THE LGH monthly film series, will take place Saturday, Dec. 6, at 7 pm at the Loring-Greenough House, 12 South St.
Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed star in this 1946 film, which tells the story of George Bailey, a small-town banker who nearly falls victim to his greedy competitor. Mr. Potter. George had always wanted to leave Bedford Falls to see the world, but circumstances and his own good heart have led him to stay. He sacrificed his education for his brother’s, kept the family-run savings and loan afloat, protected the town from the avarice of the greedy Mr. Potter, and married his childhood sweetheart. Desperate, as he prepares to jump from a bridge, his guardian angel intercedes, showing him what life would have become for the residents of Bedford Falls had he never lived.
The Jamaica Plain branch of the Mt. Washington Bank, 515 Centre St., is sponsoring the film. Hosted by the Jamaica Plain Tuesday Club.
Admission is by donation. Refreshments available! Children welcome. Seats are limited and are expected to go fast. RSVP on the event page on Loring-Greenough’s Facebook page or at firstname.lastname@example.org
