Wedding Planning: Reimagining The Marriage of Figaro

March 30, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Free

How you create a fresh, compelling production of Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro – while staying true to the beloved music and story that has been re imagined and reinterpreted for over 200 years? Led by musicologist Dr. Laura Stanfield Prichard, we consider the diverse and inventive ways that directors and opera companies have presented this classic of the opera repertory, from traditional productions with lush, period sets and costumes, to updated settings with modern dress and technology. Discover the artistic process that brings these concepts from the page to the stage, and gain insight to the setting and approach for the new BLO production of The Marriage of Figaro through set and costume designs and live musical selections performed by BLO artists.
