Workshop: Power to the People – Understanding Your Home Electrical System

November 22, 2014 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Starting out with how electricity comes in to your house, and ending at the light bulb and outlet, we will go over how wiring works, and why sometimes it doesn’t. We will examine different wiring methods found in older homes and learn to recognize which projects you might attempt on your own, and which you shouldn’t. Changing a switch, changing a light fixture—some say it’s easy. Is it really? The class will combine show and tell, hands-on learning, and information you can take home to minimize some of the hazards you may have.

The workshop will be led by JP resident Peg Preble, a licensed electrician for more than 20 years. Peg specializes in older houses. Fee: $65 for the public, $40 for BBR members.
