JP Member of Zoning Board of Appeals Quits After Herald Reveals Disbarment

Apolo Juan Catala, a JP real estate attorney, kept his seat on the city board that reviews building projects for two years after losing his law license.

An alternate member of the city’s influential Zoning Board of Appeals has resigned following a Herald inquiry into the longtime appointee of former Mayor Thomas M. Menino having been stripped of his law license two years ago amid claims he “intentionally misused” nearly $45,000 from his clients, the Walsh administration said yesterday.
