State police want to put a new eye in the sky – a drone they say will be used for search and rescue missions and reconstructing car crashes – but critics say there needs to be civil liberty protections in place before an unmanned aerial vehicle takes off.State police are soliciting proposals for a drone that can record and stream high-definition video, and track and identify the GPS location of any object in its view, according to a bid request obtained by the Herald.
