The National Weather Service expects temperatures to reach the mid-90s or higher on Tuesday afternoon. The high temps, which could break records, are expected to last through Wednesday. According to federal records, Boston hit 95 on Sept. 8, 1872 and 91 on Sept. 9, 1971.
