Happy Halloween! Go Trick-or-Treating on Centre and South Streets

Not sure where to go trick-or-treating with the kids on Halloween? Then head to Centre and South streets where local stores will be handing out hundreds of pieces of candy. The 5th Annual JP Business and Professional Association Trick or Treat Halloween Stroll will be from 3 to 6 pm. "The last five years, the Trick or Treat Halloween Stroll on Centre and South streets was especially great," said Michael Reiskind, board member of JP BAPA, via email. "There was high energy in the business district and some businesses gave out over 1,000 pieces of candy.

Sensational Saturday! Holiday Stroll, Shop with a Cause, Boston Pops & Mayor’s Tree Lighting

This Saturday is packed with local holiday events as JP Centre/South Main Streets is holding its Holiday Stroll, numerous businesses are participating in the 4th Annual Shop with a Cause, the Mayor's Enchanted Trolley Tour has two stops in JP -- and the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra is performing. Numerous businesses on Centre and South streets are planning events throughout the day from 11 am to 4 pm. There will be an information table at the Monument (South and Centre streets) from 11 am to 4 pm with a list of the day's events -- and free hot cocoa. You can also check online here for a map of events. At 11:30 am, a jazz trio from the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra will perform at the JP Branch Library.

It's not every day you see tacos, cowboys, spiders and Chewbacca strutting down the red carpet. But that's exactly what happened at Jamaica Plain’s 14th Annual Dog Parade on Saturday. The parade started at the First Baptist Church on Centre Street and finishes at the South Street Mall (corner of South Street and Carolina Avenue) with a fashion show judged by emcee Brad Brown of Blue Frog Bakery. The event was sponsored by the JP Business and Professional Association (BAPA) and JP Centre/South Main Streets. Calling All Dogs! JP Dog Costume & Fashion Show Parade on Oct. 28th

Dogs big and small, chubby and tall are all welcome to participate in Jamaica Plain's 14th Annual Dog Parade on Saturday. The parade starts at the First Baptist Church and finishes at the South Street Mall (corner of South Street and Carolina Avenue) with a fashion show judged by emcee Brad Brown of Blue Frog Bakery. The event is sponsored by the JP Business and Professional Association (BAPA) and JP Centre/South Main Streets. The entrance fee for each dog is $10 and all proceeds will benefit the City of Boston Animal Shelter. Registration starts at noon at the First Baptist Church (633 Centre St.), the parade starts at 1 pm and the costume and fashion show begins at 1:30 pm.
