Hello, neighbors. This is Chris Helms, publisher of the site you're reading, the Jamaica Plain News.

If that name rings a bell, it may be because you knew me as the founding editor of Jamaica Plain Patch. Or maybe you were a dog walking buddy when I lived in Forest Hills.

My wife Jane and I are starting this online news and community site for the neighborhood we all love.

Our new local business is in the "soft launch" phase. We'll be "officially" launching on Thursday, April 3. Please stop by our launch party during First Thursday. The party is at the Centre/South Main Streets "pop up" space at 668 Centre St. from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, April 3.

If you have questions, add them in the comment section, email me at The masthead of the Jamaica Plain News, which was published by the Jamaica Printing Co. from 1872 to 1932.[/caption]

Again, if you'd like an email from us when we launch, please add your email to this Google form.

We're thrilled to be back in JP. See you soon around the neighborhood!

[Editor's note: Post updated Friday, March 7 with information on the launch party.]
