Here's your morning update for Thursday, Feb. 27.

Parents from JP schools are organizing to fight proposed cuts that will hit all schools (including the Curley and Mendell, among others.) On Tuesday, for instance, I saw a delegation from the Curley in City Hall making their case. This morning the Globe detailed the overall cuts, which include about 250 teacher and classroom positions, roughly 120 jobs from the central office and putting seventh- and eighth-graders on the T instead of school buses. If you're a Curley parent, here is a list of contacts if you want to get involved. There's also this "No More Bake Sales for Boston Public Schools" petition making the rounds. It is specifically about cuts at the Mendell.

Looking for an internship? JP Centre/South Main Streets, one of the neighborhood's business groups, has openings for spring, summer and fall. Here are the details.

And don't forget that Thursday night is the big "State of JP" forum. It's at the Kennedy School, 7 Bolster St. from 6-9 p.m. This year's gathering will include nearly any local politician whose ear you'd like to bend. Plan to stick around for small groups toward the end of the meeting. The Gazette has a good overview here of what to expect.
