Hello neighborhood. Here's your morning memo for Tuesday, April 8:

Authors/Stories/Beers: Head to Doyle's Tuesday night for an author talk/launch party about "Astoria to Zion: Stories of Risk and Abandon from Ecotone's First Decade." Several of the authors whose stories are in the volume will be there, including Steve Almond, Matthew Neill Null and Bill Roorbach. 8 p.m. Tuesday at Doyle's, 3483 Washington St. Free.

Shape the JP Branch Library Renovation: A big moment in Jamaica Plain history has arrived — the opportunity to help shape the long-delayed renovation of the Jamaica Plain Branch Library. A first public meeting with the project architect is Wednesday, April 9, from 6-7:30 p.m. at Curtis Hall (next to the branch.) The meeting is on the second floor.

Puppet Workshop for "Wake Up The Earth": I don't know about you, but this year's rough winter has me looking forward to the "Wake Up The Earth" festival more than usual. The big party itself is Saturday, May 3 this year. Start getting your family ready with a workshop for kids 6-12 on several Wednesdays before the event. Boston Puppeteers Cooperative will help kids create paper mache puppets for use in a pageant at the end of the festival.  The free workshops are 4-5 p.m. on Wednesdays April 9, 23 and 30 at the JP Branch Library on Sedgwick.

Have a great day, JP!
