Who knows, really, all the weird things happening in JP on a Saturday night?

My wife and I were lucky enough to stumble onto one as local singers turned UForge Gallery into a cabaret space.

This video of Mark Estano belting out Frozen's "Let It Go" gives you a flavor of the night's theme — "Miscast." The bearded Estano, accompanied by Matt Stern, gave his interpretation of the hit Disney tune usually sung by the female princess Elsa.

Laura Espy produced and directed the cabaret night. About 20 people attended the first of two shows at the 767 Centre St. space. Other "Miscast" numbers included Todd Yard and Estano as Elphaba and Glinda from "Wicked" celebrating their mutual loathe. Rebekah Turner and Emma Boroson took on the male roles from "You and Me (But Mostly Me)" from "The Book of Mormon." Other performers included Emily Earle and Kevin Hanley.

Gallery owner Brian Crete said the cabaret series' winter run is over. UForge Gallery is always hosting interesting events. Here's a link to their calendar.

By the way, if you can't get enough of "Let It Go" covers, here's a decent roundup from Time.
