Chilean Playwright's "Death and The Maiden" Performed at St. John's: Ready for a challenging piece of theater? The Open Theatre is performing "Death and The Maiden" by Chile's Ariel Dorfman. The 1990 play explores the aftermath of rape and torture in a country emerging from totalitarian rule. Roman Polanski filmed a movie version in 1994. $18. Shows through Saturday, June 28 at St. John's Church.

City Councilor Matt O'Malley Office Hours: The district councilor for JP will be at JP Licks on Thursday from 5-6 p.m.

Summer Kickoff of "Fizz Boom Read!": Each of the neighborhood's libraries have full schedules of great events. An interesting one coming up Thursday is the beginning of the "Fizz Boom Read!" series at the JP Branch Library.
