Quick police response led to a 28-year-old California man being arrested after he allegedly knocked a 66-year-old woman off her bike along the Southwest Corridor Park, hit her and took her phone.

The incident took place about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday along the bike path near English High. With the help of a witness, police were notified and responded to McBride and South streets, said Police Officer Neva Coakley. They found a man wearing a white T shirt and blue jeans matching the description of the suspect.

Police arrested Robert Christopher Baker, 28, of Livermore, Calif. and charged him with unarmed robbery and assault and battery on a victim over 60 years old.

The woman's phone, which Universal Hub says was an iPhone 3G, was returned to her. Universal Hub also reports the woman received a cut lip and black eye in the assault.
