Police Continue Search for Woman Seen Going Into Pond

[UPDATE: Sunday, 4:20 p.m. — Police called off the search about 3:30 a.m. Sunday.]

The search for a woman last seen going into Jamaica Pond naked transformed the boathouse to a staging zone for the fire trucks and police cruisers that responded. While emergency vehicles circled the pond training their lights on the shore and woods, a Boston Fire Department boat searched the dark water.

Boston Police, Fire and EMS spent Saturday night at Jamaica Pond searching for a woman who, according to scanner traffic, was naked when she went into water. A special unit from Quincy joined the search late Saturday night.

A Boston police spokesperson said the department "had a report of a female in Jamaica Pond. The female is no longer visible."

Universal Hub has been following the scanner traffic, which indicated a naked woman entered the water and began swimming toward the center of the pond.

Crews from the Boston Fire Department were called at 7:40 p.m.

At 11 p.m. Saturday, the Boston Fire Department announced all their personnel had left the pond while Boston Police continued the search.

According to Boston.com, searchers had asked for help from Coast Guard and State Police helicopters, but the bad weather prevented them from coming to JP.
