The weather in our area is beautiful in the Fall. It won’t be long before winter arrives, so don’t squander this period of crisp air and light sweaters – get outside! There are lots of ways that you can get outside and get active this autumn:

  • Play in the backyard
  • Take a walk to see the Fall foliage
  • Visit a pumpkin patch or apple orchard
  • Explore a corn maze
  • Take a kite to the park
  • Get some friends together to play a game of Football

All of these are simple ways that you can get outside in this great season. And don’t just pick one – try them all!
Add exercise to your normal routine.
With this beautiful Fall weather, make it a point to add some exercise to your normal routine. Try to get outside for a walk or a run a couple times a week.
If you’d rather not go outdoors to work out, there are plenty of lifestyle improvements that you can make inside the comfort of your home. You can even exercise while you watch your favorite new fall TV show!
Know how to dress for outdoor activities.
If you’ve ever experienced a New England winter before, you know the key word: layers! Wearing lots of thinner layers allow you to stay the perfect temperature if a chilly morning turns into a warm afternoon.
When layering, there is a method that you should use. The innermost layer should keep your skin dry. The function of the middle layer is warmth. The outermost layer, also known as the shell layer, should provide protection from the elements, specifically wind and water.
Don’t get burnt out – stick with it!
The start of a new year is a common time to make a fitness resolution, but most of those “resolutions” will be out the window before the beginning of February. Instead of succumbing to the New Year’s Resolution failure, start your desired routine a little early this year.
Also, remember that it takes time to make something a habit. Some of the best ways to make a habit stick are to start small, have specific goals (and write them down), and only try to establish one habit at a time.
It’s the perfect time to learn something new!
Children have been back to school for a while now, but they’re not the only ones that can learn something new this Fall! Take this opportunity to attend a fitness class! Try out Pilates, Yoga, Cycling, Zumba, or anything else that’s offered at your local gym.
You can also take this season as an opportunity to learn about health insurance. Call Vargas and Vargas Insurance Agency at 877-550-0025 to see if you could save money on your policy!
