"We are LIVE at Jackson Square!" shouted Thomas Watson as he introduced his New Creations Brass Band late Friday afternoon. The Hyde Square Task Force hosted the hot horns from New Orleans on the steps of the former Blessed Sacrament Church.

Opening the one hour gig was the Hyde Square Task Force Afro-Latin Percussion Musicians fronted by Cornell Coley.

New Creations lead trumpet Watson kicked off his band with a mellow version of "St James Infirmary" with each member doing a solo. After the "The Saints go Marching In" the New Creations opened up the stage for a jam with the Hyde Square percussion musicians.

Hyde Square Task force Community Events Manager Julia Becker Collins gave Jackson Square and all of Jamaica Plain a sneak preview of the day-long HONK! festival in Somerville on Saturday. The New Creations will play there at Davis Square  Saturday at 8 p.m.
