Menino Funeral Procession Route: If you'd like to line the route to pay your respects to former Mayor Tom Menino, whose funeral procession begins at Faneuil Hall at 10:45 a.m., here is a map. The closest it comes to JP proper is Roslindale Square.
Neighborhood churches will toll their bells 71 times, one for each year of the former mayor's life, also beginning at 10:45 a.m., according to the official site for remembering the city's longest-serving mayor.
Volunteer to Make Holiday Baskets at Community Servings: One of JP's most well-known nonprofits is Community Servings, which cooks and delivers nutritious meals for the ill. At holiday time, they also put together gift baskets. If you'd like to help put them together this year, here's how.
Police-Community Monthly Meeting: If you're concerned about crime, or just want to get to know JP's police officers, a good place to start is attending the monthly police-community meetings.
