Demolition of the former Hughes Oil Company and related buildings began on Thursday to make way for the 280 apartments of the Commons at Forest Hills Station developed by Brennan-Corcoran Partners. The cluster building development won approval from the Boston Redevelopment Authority on Oct. 17, 2013.

This is just one of several large-scale projects that will rapidly change the Forest Hills neighborhood. The Casey Overpass is coming down soon, to be replaced with a network of surface roads. "Parcel U," over by Ukraine Way, will be home to 124 apartments and townhouses. The nearby Flanagan & Seaton property will become a mixed-use development including a storage facility.
