One of the neighborhood's best-established cafes is looking for community support to add beer and wine to their offerings.

Ula Cafe has two public meetings this week to clear the red tape needed for the change. The 284 Amory St. spot appears before a JP Neighborhood Council committee on Tuesday and is scheduled to go before the Licensing Board on Wednesday.

The cafe recently Tweeted this message in hopes of spurring community support:

Ula Cafe already stays busy with its lineup of baked goods, coffee, tea and sandwiches.

The Neighborhood Council's Public Service Committee hears the request at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Boylston Congregational Church Hall, 207 Amory St. That's right down the block from the cafe. Ula is seeking a 10 p.m. closing time and outdoor seasonal patio use for the beer and wine.

Then on Wednesday, the city's Licensing Board is scheduled to hear Ula's arguments at 10 a.m. at City Hall.
