A South End blogger says an upcoming neighborhood association agenda confirms that the international coffee house chain aims to open on Tremont Street.

The build-out continues on Caffè Nero's JP location, right beside Blanchards. In some quarters of JP, the company got push-back from residents who didn't want a chain coffee house. Community groups have welcomed the cafe while local business associations argued against it.

Caffè Nero hopes to open "several hundred" U.S. locations, it told the Telegraph (U.K.) last spring. Founder Gerry Ford told JP business people the company hopes to open 10-15 European-style coffee houses in the Boston area in the next two years. The chain has more than 650 locations worldwide.
