The Mt. Washington Bank branch at 515 Centre St. can't seem to catch a break. It's been robbed four times since 2013. Boston Police released information about the suspect in Wednesday's heist.
Police say they got a radio call about the robbery at 4:25 p.m. Wednesday. The teller told officers a Hispanic man with medium-to-dark skin, wearing a black nylon jacket with a hoodie and black knit cap passed a note demanding money.
He took the cash and walked out.
Witness and well-known neighborhood personality Shamus Moynihan recounts how he saw the dye pack explode on Centre Street, cloaking the robber in a pink mist.
Police report searching for the suspect but not finding him.
One witness told cops he saw a Hispanic man with a black jacket and black hoodie cross Centre to Robinwood Road and get into a gray Honda Accord hatchback with black bumpers.
Another witness told police she was driving past when she stopped for a man crossing the street. At that moment, there was an explosion and a "large puff of smoke" came out of the man's jacket. She saw the man turn onto Robinwood Road.
The same branch had an incident Tuesday in which a fight between two people forced the branch to close, said Melvin Tutiven, branch manager. The incident Tuesday was not a bank robbery.
The branch has been a frequent target for criminals. Wednesday’s robbery was at least the fourth since 2013. Before this week’s robberies, it was last targeted in October.
