A woman drove along Centre Street Saturday morning tossing $20 bills out her window, according to one resident who not only snagged one of the twenties, but also talked to the philanthropist.

Eileen Hughes tells Jamaica Plain News the story:

At first I was angry because I thought she was littering, but when I drove past the paper, I saw that it was cash. I couldn't stop because there was another car behind me. Then, I saw something else coming from the car. This time I pulled over and saw a $20 bill. I scooped it up and caught up with the car at a light. I got out, approached the car, the window was down a little bit, saw a woman with a whole bunch of $20 bills in her hand, tried to give it back to her and she said to keep it. She wanted to share some joy!

Hughes was headed from Centre/South toward Hyde Square when she saw the first bill come out near Ten Tables. She caught up with the philanthropist at the intersection between JP Knit & Stitch and Tres Gatos.

Hughes plans to use the twenty in the spirit it was given.

"I'm going to pass it on," Hughes said.
