The Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Development Corporation  thought that Jackson Square needed something more inviting than a brick MBTA building wall for people to look at when coming out of Jackson Square station.

The MBTA agreed and the NDC  asked JP artist Alex Cook to design a mural on the 60 foot brick wall of the MBTA's Engineering and Maintenance of Way Facility on Centre and Lamartine Streets.  After the NDC held a series of brainstorming meetings with Bromley Heath residents and other neighbors,Alex came up with a design.

He and and his assistant prepared the wall Thursday and drew the cartoon Friday

On Saturday over 25 volunteers under Alex's watchful eye painted the mural and most of it was completed by days end. The Jamaica Plain News dropped by Saturday afternoon to watch the work/
