The CVS at 704 Centre St. in Jamaica Plain recently got rid of its automated self-checkout kiosks, returning back to registers manned by employees.

The CVS stores on Centre Street recently went from automation to customer relations -- replacing the store's automated checkout kiosks back to registers manned by service clerks. This occurred at both CVS pharmacies in Jamaica Plain, at 467 and 704 Centre St.

Steve Garfield pointed out the recent change via Twitter.

As recently as two weeks ago the branches had three self-service checkout kiosks and two registers manned by employees. Several other Boston-area CVS branches have removed automated checkout kiosks, signaling a change from the retail pharmacy's initiative from five years ago to speed up the checkout process with the self-service kiosks.
