Jamaica Plain resident and author Randy Susan Meyers was honored at the State House on Jan. 12 as a recipient of the “Honors in Fiction” award from the Massachusetts Book Awards. Meyers was honored for her fourth novel "Accidents of Marriage."

Meyers was welcomed at the State House by state Rep. Liz Malia, D-Jamaica Plain.

"Accidents of Marriage" is about social worker Maddy, who works to balance the demands of three children, a career, and a husband with a volatile temper – until one day when his temperament lands her in the hospital. The book is told through the perspectives of Maddy, her husband Ben, and their daughter as it examines the challenges of family and the notion of forgiveness.

The Massachusetts Center for the Book partners annually with the local library community to award the Massachusetts Book Award for achievements in fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and children’s/young adult literature authored by Massachusetts residents or featuring Massachusetts.
