Forest Hills Grass Fed Beefing Up for March Opening

The second location of Grass Fed will likely open in Forest Hills during the first week of March -- and there will be new burgers on the menu.

The restaurant, which will be located in the former Tonic space on Washington Street across from the Forest Hills T station, still needs approvals from the city's Inspectional Services and Health departments, according to founder-proprietor Krista Kranyak Chaflin. For now, the restaurant is "still in the painting stages and awaiting signage."

In addition to importing the "classics" (including boozy milkshakes) from Grass Fed's original Centre Street location, the Forest Hills location will boast several unique menu items, Chaflin said. While she's keeping some of them under wraps until the opening, she shared the secrets behind two new burgers with Jamaica Plain News:

The Bibimbap burger will consist of a grass fed beef patty, wasabi mayonnaise, pickeled burdock root, sesame oil bean sprouts, kimchi, green-leaf lettuce and a fried egg.

The Forest Hills burger, an ode to the historically Irish neighborhood, will contain a grass-fed beef patty, Swiss cheese, kraut, bacon, pickles and Thousand Island dressing.

As previously reported, the Forest Hills Grass Fed hopes to open with an all-alcohol license, an outdoor patio, a 1 a.m. closing time, and takeout and delivery services. According to a posting on Craigslist, the restaurant is currently looking to hire experienced cooks, supervisors and front-of-house staff.
