La Rana Rossa, the new Jamaica Plain pizzeria on Green Street, received the "Cheap Eats" treatment in today's Boston Globe Food section.

Among the pizzas praised in the piece: the Cheeburger Cheeburger Cheeburger, "essentially a deconstructed cheeseburger in pizza form," the pizza Puttanesca, which boasts "a melange of intense flavors," and the roasted mushroom pizza, which "arrives under a pile of arugula and red onion, the mushrooms tender and savory."

The story notes that co-owners Brown Brown and Ginger Russell hold a five-year lease on the space, with an option to extend for another five years, and are still working on obtaining a beer-and-wine license. They also hope to add appetizers to the menu soon.

Also name-checked in the article: JP favorites Bella Luna, Canto 6 Bakery, Ula Cafe and Chilacates. La Rana Rossa joins them "as another neighborhood standby in this underserved stretch of JP."
