State Representative Liz Malia was awarded the Volunteers of America’s Susan Wornick and Myrna Billian Community Leadership Award for her legislative efforts against human trafficking, promoting marriage equality, and improving access to mental health and substance abuse services on May 12 at the State House.
The award recognizes the work of individuals who tirelessly stand up for women in need, and advocate for all women, regardless of their past struggles.
Previous awardees have included Pamela Feingold, Community Development Lending Manager; Frederica Williams, President and CEO of Whittier Street Health Center; and Joseph Freeman, CEO and owner of Racemaker Press, and long-time supporter of Volunteers of America Massachusetts.
