Forde: ‘I’m A Progressive Voice for Register of Deeds’

As the custodian of all property records for Suffolk County, how the Registry operates matters to everyone buying a house, selling a house, or transferring property. Here's why I'm hitting the streets and talking to voters every single day about this important race:

Katie Forde, candidate for Suffolk County Register of Deeds.

• It’s a real job for a real professional, and I am the ONLY candidate who is prepared to do the whole job. As a legal professional, I am the only person in this race who actually drafts and records deeds. And as someone who has worked with Registries across the Commonwealth for a decade, I have the vision and experience to make the Suffolk Register of Deeds a leader in consumer protection and service.

• Home ownership has long been an entry for many into the middle class and yet it can be fraught with risks as we have seen from the housing crisis. If elected, I will advocate for and implement: optional consumer notification programs to alert property owners when documents are recorded on their properties; homebuyer 101 programs; extended registry recording hours; lawyer assistance programs for constituents facing foreclosure or title issues; and expanded translation of registry documents the many languages spoken by Suffolk County constituents.

• The people of Suffolk County deserve a serious, full-time Register, who is committed to showing up for work every day. It's not just any old open seat for serial office seekers or career politicians looking for a new political gig. When it comes to your home, your property, and your financial security, it’s not just politics to me.

My name is Katie Forde, and I ask for your vote for the Suffolk Register of Deeds in the Democratic primary on Thursday September 8.
