UPDATE: The suspect and his girlfriend were apprehended Wednesday night, Feb. 1, in Lawrence, Mass., and were both scheduled to appear in court Thursday morning, reports NBC Boston.

The FBI is seeking leads and offering a reward for information leading to the arrest of a man who has allegedly robbed a number of area banks, including one in Jamaica Plain last month.
The bureau is offering up to $5,000 for information on Chaka J. Meredith, 41. He is described as a black male with brown eyes and short, back hair. He stands approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs around 200 pounds. His last known address is 461 Elm St. in Laconia, N.H.
Law enforcement is seeking Meredith in connection to six bank robberies during the past month. The first in the alleged spree was at the East Boston Savings Bank at 515 Centre St. in JP on Jan. 3 at approximately 8:54 a.m. He is also allegedly responsible for robberies in Pepperell and Lawrence, Mass., and Laconia and Plaistow, N.H.
According to the FBI, during the JP robbery, Meredith "threatened to use a weapon." It is believed he has access to firearms, "and is accompanied by his girlfriend."
“We’re asking the public for its assistance in helping us locate Mr. Meredith. While we are grateful that nobody has been injured in any of these robberies, we’d like to put an end to his alleged crime spree before someone does get hurt,” said Supervisory Special Agent Daniel R. Romanzo, who supervises the Violent Crimes Task Force.
