One of the most popular in-house Boston Celtics interludes is Heroes Among Us, which honors individuals who have made exceptional and lasting contributions to the community. Recently, a Jamaica Plain duo were honored during the Jan. 16th home game against the New Orleans Pelicans.

Jamaica Plain residents Noah McKenna and Tavis were honored as Heroes Among Us on Jan. 16th, 2018 at the Boston Celtics home game versus the New Orleans Pelicans.
After graduating college and landing a full-time job, Jamaica Plain native Noah McKenna decided to be a mentor with Partners for Youth with Disabilities. McKenna was matched with an energetic 10-year old named Tavis and their relationship quickly grew into a unique bond through cheering for the Celtics at the Garden, cooking, gardening, attending social justice rallies together and more. It's fair to say that Noah and Tavis became family through the power of mentoring.
The Heroes Among Us program was established in 1997 and is presented at every Celtics home game and pays tribute to heroic achievements of outstanding citizens.
