The Fixit Clinic coaches will be back at the Jamaica Plain Branch Library and available for consultation to help fix your broken items such as toys, bicycles, kitchen appliances and more on April 7th.

Celebrating repair by conveying basic troubleshooting skills, fixit clinics are do-it-together hands-on fix-n-learn community-based exploration and discovery workshops staffed by volunteer fixit coaches who generously share their time, tools and expertise to consult with you on the disassembly, troubleshooting, and repair of items.

So bring your broken, non-functioning things -- electronic gadgets, appliances, computers, toys, sewing machines, bicycles, fabric items, etc.-- for assessment, disassembly, and possible repair. Workspace will be provided, as will specialty tools, and guidance to help you disassemble and troubleshoot your item. Whether you fix it or not, you'll learn more about how it was manufactured and how it worked, ready to share your newfound confidence and insight with your friends, neighbors, and the community at large. Hopefully you’ll be inspired to become a fixit coach yourself.

Please bring your broken item with all necessary parts to recreate the problematic symptoms. Please only bring items you can carry in, so no oversized items like refrigerators. You can bring any parts and tools you already own that might be helpful such as hand tools or sewing supplies.

The Fixit Clinic will be at the Jamaica Plain Branch Library (30 South St.) on Saturday, April 7 from 10 am to 1 pm. For more info visit www.fixitclinic.org.
