The Boston Kids Comics Fest is on April 28, 2018 at the Bethel Youth Center (84 Wachusett St.) in Jamaica Plain.

The Comics Fest is for parents, guardians, educators, librarians and, of course, kids, to discover and explore "kid friendly" comics, according to the event's website.

There will be hands-on workshops for ages five to 12 aiming "at a full immersion experience in the art of creating and choosing comics." Parents and guardians are asked to accompany children to workshops. No registration is necessary. Workshops include "The Cartoonist's Path" about how comic writers and illustrators became cartoonists. Panelists include Jonathan Todd (Cecil, Timid), Mark Parisi (Off The Mark), Braden Lamb (Adventure TimeThe Midas Touch), and Maris Wicks (PrimatesHuman Body Theater), who will be on hand to answer questions about how they created their characters, stories, why they love making comics and more. Click here for a full schedule of workshops and panels.

There will also be a book fair, exhibitors and a superhero costume contest! The contest will be from 3:30 to 4 pm, including a parade. Costumes will be judged on three categories: accuracy, showmanship and originality. The contest is for ages five through 12, but all are welcome to come in costume.

The Boston Kids Comics Fest will be on Saturday, April 28th from 10 am to 5 pm at the Bethel Youth Center (84 Wachusett St.), Jamaica Plain. Please visit bostonkidscomicsfest.wordpress.com for more information.
