Boston police recovered this weapon, a fully loaded 9mm AA Arms AP9 pistol, after a foot chase with a suspect on July 22, 2018.

Officers were on patrol by 154 Heath St. Roxbury, around 12:45 am on July 22 when they approached two men loitering in a parking lot, according to BPDnews.com. As officers got out of their vehicle, one of the men, later identified as Eddy Baez, 26, of Jamaica Plain, took off running. Police quickly pursued the suspect on foot and into a nearby courtyard. As he ran police saw him clutching at his waistband making police believe the suspect was carrying a weapon.

The officers were only about 10 feet away from the suspect when he allegedly pulled out a fully loaded 9mm AA Arms AP9 pistol. With guns drawn officers yelled at the suspect to drop the weapon, which the man did not do. As officers closed in on the suspect, Baez allegedly tossed the weapon into a nearby staircase on Horan Way.

Officers finally caught up the suspect around 11 Bickford St., where he was placed under arrest after a brief, but violent struggle, according to BPDnews.com. Police later recovered the weapon.

The suspect will appear in Roxbury District Court on charges, including unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, carrying a loaded firearm and resisting arrest.
