Wonder Spice Cafe appeared at a Boston Licensing Board hearing on Aug. 22 to transfer its license to Sweet Rice, a restaurant in Charlestown, which was first reported by Boston Restaurant Talk.

Sweet Rice's owner Pichai Chairatthanawanit told Eater.com that it was a positive hearing. meetings with a few neighborhood associations are necessary to gain local support to have the license transferred.

Chairatthanawanit lived in Jamaica Plain and was excited to hear Wonder Spice was for sale because the restaurant group wanted to expand into other neighborhoods.

The new restaurant may not open until the end of the year, and it will serve the same menu as the Charlestown location. Menu items include hot Japanese appetizers like shumai, tempura, an array of sushi, as well as Thai food, including pad Thai, five different duck dishes and more.

It is not known when Wonder Spice Cafe will close.
