"It looks like change is on the way," said Pressley at her campaign party. "I am so humbled to be standing here before you tonight victorious."

As she has said throughout the campaign trail, she praised Capuano, saying they were similar, and thanked him Capuano for his 20 years of service in Congress.

While taking jabs at President Donald Trump, calling him a racist and misogynistic, she made it clear why she people supported her.

"These times demanded more from our leaders. Our rights are under assault... our freedoms under siege. It's not about Democrats being in power, but it matters who those Democrats are."

State Representative Races

Another shocker tonight is Nika Elugardo defeating state Rep. Jeffrey Sánchez (D-15th Suffolk), who was first elected in 2003.

Official results were not set by 10:20 pm, but sources inside Sánchez's campaign had started saying he lost within an hour of the polls closing at 8 pm.

One incumbent who won easily was state Rep. Liz Malia (D-11th Suffolk), who defeated Charles Clemons Muhammad and Ture Turnbull.

Suffolk County District Attorney

The Democratic Primary for the Suffolk County DA seat featured five candidates and Rachael Rollins came out of the scrum victorious. She will face independent Mike Maloney in November.
